This Sunday from Houston, Texas, the Royal Rumble event takes place for the 33rd time.
WT representative, Big Daddy Kal, will be in house, along with Wrestling Travel travellers, who will be travelling from all around the world to witness the excitement and unpredictability of the Rumble.
Many questions are up in the air for this Sunday, including who will turn up and surprise the WWE Universe in the Men’s and Women’s Rumble matches? Let’s break it down for you.
Who will be the surprise entrants into the Men’s and Women’s Rumble matches?
Women’s Royal Rumble Match
Scarlett Bordeaux
Will ‘The SmokeShow’ and ‘Perfect 10’ make her first WWE appearance in the Women’s Royal Rumble match?
Bordeaux has been under a WWE contract for a few months, and we have yet to see her make an appearance. It is expected that she will pop up in NXT first of all, but that doesn’t mean she can’t make her debut in the iconic match. Bordeaux now claims to be a ‘Super Diva’, but will she be making a super debut this Sunday in Houston?
Shayna Baszler
The former 2-time NXT Women’s Champion’s time on NXT is nearly over, and it wouldn’t surprise us if her next appearance is in the Women’s Royal Rumble match, moving on to Raw or SmackDown. Shayna held the NXT Women’s Title recently for 416 days, the longest reign in NXT history. Will the ‘Queen of Spades’ appear in the Women’s Rumble on Sunday, and maybe even with the whole thing?
Nia Jax
Nia has been out of action since suffering an ACL injury in both of her knees, ruling her out for the rest of the year. It is speculated the Nia is ready to go, and could make her return at the Royal Rumble. Jax entered the Rumble at No.29 last year, and was eliminated by the eventual winner, Becky Lynch. Jax also entered the men’s Rumble, entering No.30 after attacking R-Truth. If Jax was to return, she would definitely be in the frame as frontrunner to win the match and go on to WrestleMania.
Ronda Rousey
Ronda Rousey has not been seen on WWE TV since WrestleMania 35 in New York. Rousey injured her hand in the match and required surgery, but the aim of her exit was to start a family. As of this writing, Ronda has not announced any pregnancy, so it would seem likely that the former Raw Women’s Champion could compete in the ring sooner than expected. Could we finally see Becky v Ronda one-on-one at WrestleMania 36?
Men’s Royal Rumble Match
Velveteen Dream
Velveteen Dream has been out with a back injury for a short time now, but it widely anticipated he would be appearing on Raw or SmackDown after dropping the NXT North American Title. Dream is hugely popular, and it wouldn’t surprise the master of the Purple Rainmaker makes an appearance in the Rumble on Sunday.
Cain Velasquez
Former UFC Champion, Cain Velasquez, made his first WWE appearance at the SmackDown launch episode on FOX, and ended up facing Brock Lesnar at Crown Jewel, in a losing effort, losing after just 88 seconds and went off into the sunset. It is expected Cain will return sooner rather than later, likely to seek revenge on Brock. Could we see Cain be the one to eliminate Brock from the Rumble on Sunday to set up a rematch between the two at WrestleMania?
John Cena
John Cena stated a few months ago in an interview that he would be at WrestleMania 36. Cena didn’t have a PPV match for the whole 2019, but what will be planned for ‘Big Match John’ for this year. John isn’t getting any younger, and while he’s still in great shape, what’s the likelihood he will turn up in Houston this Sunday?
Edge
The rumours have been swirling since he delivered a spear at SummerSlam last summer, that Edge has been cleared to compete once again. Edge himself has denied such rumours, but could that be swerve to convince fans he’s not returning? We will certainly find out on Sunday.
