“Iron” Mike Tyson has officially presented the new AEW TNT Championship, last night at AEW Double or Nothing. Tyson was given his own custom audio and visual entrance as he made his way to ringside, where he took his seat, to watch the finals of the TNT Championship Tournament.

During Tyson’s entrance, AEW Commentator Tony Schiavone informed the audience that the actual TNT Championship was infact “a work in progress”. The finalized product had been delayed by issues surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic.

It was announced on March 30, 2020, that an eight-man tournament would be contested.

“It’s been a privilege working with Kevin Reilly and TNT to bring fans the best live wrestling show week after week on AEW: DYNAMITE, especially during these tumultuous times,” said Tony Khan, President and CEO of AEW. “I’m glad we’re now able to announce the TNT Championship. The first-ever titleholder will be determined by an unforgettable tournament that fans will not want to miss and that our wrestlers will be desperate to win. I’m excited for the announcement of the full bracket live on Dynamite this week. And, it’s only fitting that the champion and the title belt will carry the logo of the globally-respected TNT brand and that they’ll represent not only AEW but also the great quality programming, massive reach, and storied history in the wrestling business that are all associated with TNT.”

The competitive tournament began on the April 8th episode of Dynamite, which included such talents as Kip Sabian, Dustin Rhodes, Lance Archer, Colt Cabana, Cody Rhodes, Shawn Spears, Darby Allin and Sammy Guevara.

After several weeks of active competition “The American Nightmare” Cody Rhodes and “MurderHawk” Lance Archer, advanced to the finals which would crown the inaugural TNT Champion.

    ???????? SPOILER WARNING ????????

Archer has been very impressive since joining AEW, along with WWE Hall of Famer and Wrestling Psychology expert Jake “The Snake” Roberts. The finals of this bout between Archer and Rhodes did not disappoint.

Mike Tyson was seen to be having an amazing time and was actually involved in part of the match. The former World Heavyweight Boxing Champion decided to support Cody, by fending off a meddling Jake Roberts.

The conclusion of the match saw Cody Rhodes defeat Lance Archer to claim the honour of being crowned the inaugural TNT Champion.
